Publicity and Marketing Intern – Job Description

Timeframe: June 2026 - August 2026 (start dates flexible; 8-12 week commitment)

Job format: Hybrid—A combination of remote and in-person work at our Brooklyn, NY office. Intern must be able to commute to our office for the duration of the internship.

Compensation: $17.00/hr

Job Summary:

Assist the Page One Media publicity department with various administrative and publicity tasks related to the running of a small literary PR and marketing firm. The right candidate will possess careful attention to detail, a willingness to learn and pitch in wherever help is required, and the ability to work independently when needed and on team projects. Day-to-day tasks include providing administrative support as needed, helping with research projects, and supporting social media work for clients and the business. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Assist the P1M publicity department with various administrative tasks.
* Attend team meetings and take notes on client calls, as necessary. Attend weekly check-ins with senior publicists.
* Help the publicity department with research, including podcast and Substack research.
* Help the publicity department with creating/updating media lists and occasional drafting of publicity materials.
* Assist P1M’s publicity & marketing assistant with creating social media posts.

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates possess excellent written and communications skills, and professional etiquette is required. The right candidate will be self-motivated, and detail oriented with the ability to work independently and take direction. Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple on-going tasks. Familiarity with MS Office Suite is necessary. An interest in the publishing industry and familiarity with PR databases like Muck Rack or with design software like Canva are a plus.

Page One Media was founded in 2019 by Sarah Russo. Our work sits squarely in the literary space working with authors, books, literary organizations, and publishers, specifically those who are, or who publish, experts as well as select literary fiction and works in translation.
